Book Travel Recommendations

To the wander lust soul,

I think we can all agree that the world is so big, diverse, and filled with many people of different races, cultures, and ethnicities. Some of us want to travel the world and see every inch and every crevice that the world has to offer. We want to see the Eiffel Tower shimmering at night with a special someone or we want to go to New York City and be in Times Square on New Year’s Eve. Some even want to go to Bali and it’s crystal blue beaches or even Japan with it’s rich ancient history and affinity for all things technological and cute.

We all have had dreams of seeing the world.

But sometimes we don’t always have the money to travel to where our hearts desire. As someone who hasn’t traveled in her life, I can thoroughly tell you that books are the next best thing.

It surely doesn’t replace the actual feeling and experience of going to these amazing cities, countries, or states, but it sure is cheaper and cures some of the wander lust of what these places hold.

So if you’re like me and hasn’t traveled much in his or her life, then here are some books that will take you all across the world for cheaper and within the comforts of your own home <3

Love and Gelato

This book really sparked my interest in wanting to travel to Italy and to see the Ponte Vecchio and all the historical buildings. I think going to Italy would be like stepping back into time itself with all its ancient uniqueness (not in a negative sense)—–there’s just something so enriching about the thought of all those cobblestone pathways and buildings made of brick and hard labor that sounds appealing to me. This book also got me into wanting to learn Italian, something I took up last summer, but kind of fell out of with school. But the language, gosh the language, is so beautiful and difficult to learn, but it’s so worth it! I really should get back to learning it!

And don’t even get me started on the food. Especially the gelato. ; ) I just want to try authentic Italian food from Italy because can you imagine how much better Italian food would taste from it’s home country? Like I’ve had some pretty amazing Italian food, but gosh, my mouth waters at the thought of Italian food from the birth place of Italian food.

Love and Luck

I mention this book also by Jenna Evan Welch because the book itself takes you on a tour of Ireland and who wouldn’t want to go to Ireland. Once you dive into this book, you become like one of the tourists on the tour bus who explores all the sights and wonders Ireland has to hold. Of course, with some sibling drama thrown into the mix as well.

I See London, I see France

I see someone’s underpants ; ) Sorry my inner five year old couldn’t resist saying that. But I love the cleverness of the title. This book follows a girl going on a trip all throughout London from Europe, Paris, Italy and even Greece. You’ll feel like you’re right along with her and her adventures.

The Geek Girl Series

Harriet is someone you instantly fall in love with for her quirkiness and geekiness, and I mean that in the best way. You follow Harriet all throughout this series and how she travels from London to New York to Japan and all these exotic places in her attempts at becoming a model.

I can guarantee your wanderlust and your need for a simple and funny read will be satisfied with this series.

The Loose Ends List

This book is an all around joyful, uplifting, and a tragic read. It’s will make you laugh and cry and cherish all the good “snow globe” moments you’ve had in your life with your family and you’re loved ones. You will voyage on a cruise ride through some tropical and unique places such as Jamaica, Rio, Switzerland, and Rome. You’ll go exploring bat caves one minute and be drinking exotic drinks at bars the next. As you continue on your travels, you’ll find yourself standing next to the Christ statue in Rio and by night you’ll be dancing the Jitterbug or doing the Rumba on the dance floor of a unique kind of cruise ship.

You’re sure in for a ride or emotions and all around fun.

Everything, Everything

Ever want to rebelliously run off to Hawaii? Now you can with Everything, Everything which follows Maddy, a teenage girl who has lived in the confines of her house her whole life because her mom told her she had a disease where she would fall gravely ill if she ever ventured outside. So throw in a cute next boy neighbor, and now she has a reason to want to go outside. And boy, when she goes outside, does she know how to get as far away from her house as possible.

Anna and the French Kiss

This goes back to my dream of falling in love in Paris. Because who wouldn’t want to fall in love in Paris? : ) I get some people might not want to, but it sure is a cute sentiment. Lucky for you, you can live vicariously through Anna as she falls in love and goes to college in Paris. How cool is that?

This is defiantly a book for the romantic and young at heart <3

Prince Charming

Another Ireland book? I mean you gotta love Europe and all it’s great wonders. But what makes this different from Love and Luck is that you’re getting to dine with royalty. Follow Daisy, the sister of soon to be princess of Scotland when marrying the Prince of Scotland, Alex. You’ll get to meet Daisy’s whole crazy family, as well as the “royal wreckers” ; ) and the queen herself. You’ll be walking through castles, doing traditional folk dances at royal balls, or maybe you’ll find yourself outside shooting fake pidgins or riding horseback.

Who knows, maybe on your journey through Scotland with Daisy, you’ll fall in love? Or fall in love with the love story?

Those are some of my favorite travel recommendation books, but of course, there’s always more places to go in the world! I purposely left out books that traveled to Paris because I’ve read a lot of books that take place in Paris and thought that should be another blog post! So stay tuned for that.
