Top 10 Reads of 2018

December 31, 2018

Dear 2018 readers,

This year, like any other year, has been one full of too many books to count! I have read so many amaaaaazing books and it’s always hard to pick my favorites, but in no particular order, here are the books that I found beyond spectacular!

1. Still Me

Louisa Clark is my fictional spirit animal! Her style, her personality, everything about her just screams light and love and compassion. I highly recommend anyone read this book if they’re looking for a good book about love and personal growth. Or just a heart warming book in general. But don’t forget to read the rest of the series first!

2. Kingdom Of Ash

Like the title alone should be an indication of why it made it onto this list. Aeiln may be the queen of this series, but the real queen here is Sarah J Maas herself who writes like nobody’s business! And such a beautiful and perfect ending to a series I grew up with.

3. Love and Gelato

This book was a reread for me this year, but some part of me absolutely adored it the second time around! In fact, this book spurred me to try to learn Italian. And that worked for a good two months before school began. But I would love to get back into learning the language and to visit Italy one day. Who knows maybe I’ll meet someone who lives in a graveyard too and who will take me to eat gelato?

4. Two by Two

This was my first Nicolas Sparks book I’ve ever read and I absolutely fell in love with the maturity and love in this book! I never wanted to read a Nicolas Sparks book until I was older because most of the people I know who read Nicolas Spark books are older woman, but gosh, this book will touch the heart of any woman or man no matter the age.

5. Restore Me

Tahereh Mafi wrote the continuation of the Shatter Me series that we all needed! If you don’t know this and you’ve read the Shatter Me series, then I just want to let you know there’s going to be 3 more books in the series and Restore Me is the first continuation book with Defy Me coming out April 2, 2019. But if you haven’t read the series in a while, I recommend picking up the series and rereading them before starting Restore Me. It definitely helped me!

6. All Your Perfects

If Cassandra Clare and Sarah J Maas are the queens of high fantasy, then Colleen Hoover is my queen of contemporary romance! She never fails to blow me away with the topics, the love, the angst, and the storylines of all her books. All your perfects is a new adult romance, so I don’t recommend it to a younger audience (16 and under), but it’s such a profound story for anyone. If you’re married or in a relationship or if you’re single, it’s a book I highly recommend you sit down and cherish in all its glory.I sat down and finished it within 2 days, it’s that quick of a read!

7. The Deal

I feel like this is a highly underrated romance book, but The Deal is the kind of book you read if you want a good romance with a ‘bad boy’ and a ‘good girl.’ It’s a little bit on the mature side, so I don’t recommend this for younger readers (ages 15 and under).

8. This Impossible Light

Maybe I’ll discuss this book more in depth later on, but I feel like this book just wrapped up all the feelings I felt during a part of my life where I was at an all time low. Reading this book just took me back to that time of my life and had me in tears with understanding what the main character felt and how I felt.

9. Come Back To Me

If there’s one thing I love most in the world it’s a heart-wrenching, agonizing romance book that really touches the heart! This book was just beautiful and funny and all around a good time. If you’re like me and love a good romance book that includes a military aspect, then you’ll like this book.

10. Listen to Your Heart

This book was another satisfying read for my romantic heart <3 ! I found the whole concept of the book entirely cute and just had me yelling and on the edge of my seat rooting for the guy and the girl to be together. I also never really knew what a podcast was until I read this book and frankly I quite like podcasts now too. So very cute!
