January 2020 Quote: This Is Our Year

January 15, 2020

“Last year was for pain.

It was for tears,

It was for triumphs,

It was for doors opening,

It was for doors closing.

It was for wilting,

It was for growing.

This year is a revival.

And I’m going to take everything with me

to be

Stronger.

To all you lovelies out there in the world,

A new year, a new start, a new beginning.

There are two types of people in this world, those who don’t think much of the new year—-just a continuation—— and those who feel feel like they have a clean slate to begin again.

There’s nothing with falling into the former, but when we have that mindset of nothing has changed or nothing will change with the new year, we often find ourselves going into the new year with a bad attitude or without a growth mindset. But if we think that this year is going to be our year or it’s going to be better, then we go into it with a positive attitude and manifest all that energy out into the world. If we say it’s going to be a great year, I’m going to change for the better, I’m going to do this that or this, then we challenge ourselves as people to be stronger and to grow.

I think this is why so many people go into the new year with new years resolutions in thinking that last year, they didn’t get to do all these things and this is the year they want to try or be better about their goals.

The ultimate new years resolution?

To lose weight.

I feel like that’s a lot of peoples new years resolution and how I constantly go to the gym on January 1st just to see all the new faces/see who will show up. January 2nd? Gym’s pretty empty 🤪 But that’s okay, because we all fall off of it sometimes, but when we do, we have to get back up and try again. That’s what resolutions do for people—–it gives them motivation to keep going. Some people have the resolutions to travel less, spend less, be more eco friendly, make more friends, get better grades, and all those types of goals, and I say if you have a goal going into the new year, DON’T GIVE UP ON IT!!! If you fail, try again. If you stop, take the rest you need, then hit play. If you get a no, prove to them why it should have been a yes.

Because this is your year to take your life into your hands and manifest all the positive things you deserve.

I know life can be rough and it can be hard sometimes and we will all have our ups and downs, trust me, I know, but that’s what’s so great about having a new year to really sit down and say, you know what, this year I’m going to be better. I’m going to really try harder for me. And when we sit down and reflect on all that we did the past year and think how can I be better, that’s when change happens in the best way possible.

I know for me the last four years have been transformative for me in a lot of ways and it’s been tough. I graduated high school—–door closed—-but I am in college—–door open. I can’t say being in college has been everything I ever dreamed of it to be. There are days where it can be so isolating and lonely and days where I just want to sulk into my pillow and wallow in misery. There have been days that I have. Last year, I was someone who always felt the need to cry because the previous years crying was so natural for me so to not cry felt oddly wrong. But I learned that I never deserved to shed all those tears I did for no reason——that I deserved to smile. Once I realized that I deserved to be happy and to find that present happiness, I felt like things really got better for me. Sure there are days and nights where I do cry and times where I feel mentally and physically exhausted, but I look back on how far I’ve come and think of how much I can still go and grow and when I put it into that perspective it makes me hopeful.

So start this year off right.

Make this year yours.

Leave all the pain, the tears, the hardships of last year in last year, and go into this year with a smile, with confidence, with strength. Use all the pain, the tears, and hardships to guide you through this year in knowing that you won’t make the same mistake twice as to feel all the negative things you did last year. Make that pain, tears, and hardships your reason to make this year a better year full of love and happiness.

Set goals for yourself this year.

Exercise.

Find self-love.

Learn to cook.

Start a blog.

Make a friend.

Save money.

Get a job that actually brings you happiness.

Or, you know, of course pick up a book 😉

Do things that will challenge you and help you be the happiest and healthiest person you can be mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Use this new year to find comfort with who you are. Find what makes you happy, do it, and never let go. Find the people who make you happy, hug them, and never let go.

Use this new year to make life long memories. Go to that party. Go on that trip. Go on that first date.

Go

Go

Go

And never stop chasing what you want.

This is your year

Reclaim it

Take it

Make it yours.

I hope you nothing but the best in this new year and to go after your goals and your happiness with so much passion and zeal.

Here’s to this fresh start to start doing what we want and what we love.

But ultimately, here’s to you,
