Because this is the month of love, I thought it would be fitting to write one of my quotes about love. Too often I have seen people I love give their hearts away to people who never deserved the love, the compassion, and the forgiveness they received from someone who loved so deeply. I have seen people I have loved get hurt by fools who didn’t know how to love properly or treat another man or woman with the love they deserve.

These lovely people who have such amazing hearts, they always find their way back to these fools that don’t deserve it. And that’s because their heart loves them and that love for that person was more powerful than the pain they felt when that person broke them. They go back to that person with more hope after they were broken with because they feel like that person can fix them or make them feel loved again. And it’s so hard to let go of those we love.

But we have to recognize when to let go. We have to recognize what is a healthy relationship for us and what makes you want to be better. If that person doesn’t treat you the way you deserve—with kindness, compassion, endless love, and respect—then you don’t need them adding negativity in your life. You need people who will bring you happiness and laughter, not pain and tears and some ounce of hope that they will change and make you happy. Because if it’s an endless pattern of getting hurt, returning, getting hurt again, and returning, there is no chance that they will magically change for the better and stop causing you pain.

You’re not a fool for being in love or falling for someone’s trick of making you feel loved. We all want to love and die loved. There’s just some jokesters out there who feel like it’s funny to play around with your rare and delicate soul. Don’t let them take advantage over you and the love that you give. Know when you’re being played and when to stop being played with. Have the courage to find yourself a prince or princess or a nice boy or girl who will treat you like the king and queen you are.
