To those who have read a a Queen of Air and Darkness and who needed more,
If you haven’t read a Cassandra Clare book, then I HIGHLY suggest you click out of this post because you won’t understand a thing. Even if you have read a Cassandra Clare book, but you haven’t read a Queen of Air and Darkness, I also recommend you click out of this post or stop reading after this first paragraph because there will be SPOILERS to come.
Don’t say, I didn’t warn you!
ð Stop reading beyond this point if you haven’t read the Shadowhunter series in general and finished Queen of Air and Darkness ð
If you’ve made it past that warning, welcome to my theories ðļ.
If you haven’t read my review of Queen of Air and Darkness (QoAaD) that was a book within itself, you can check that out with the link below. Because that review was so long and I didn’t want to drag it out any further, I thought, let’s make a separate post for what I think might happen in the next book.
The thing I didn’t like about the end of QoAaD, was that Kit and Ty never talked to each other after the whole love confession and everything!
I was highly disappointed because I was hoping that Kit would see Ty again and they would talk it out, but NOOOOO, Kit goes off with Tessa and Jem and just watches Ty at a distance when they were at the beach for Magnus and Alec’s wedding. I was so UPSET!!! If I was there, I would have dragged Kit by his ears to Ty so that they could work things out like the adults they should be.
Kit told Ty he loved him and I know Ty was going through a hard time with raising his sister’s ghost and everything, but I KNOW that Ty loves Kit too, he just didn’t feel it at the moment. Ty also feels things differently and can be very reserved about his feelings, so I get why he wouldn’t know what he feels is love for Kit, but he kept asking about what happened to Kit after she fainted and where he was because he cares about him. He loves him even if he doesn’t know it.
I think with Ty’s plot of going to the Scholomance, he’s going to make friends and he’s going to realize how much he misses Kit—his Watson to his Sherlock—and that’s going to make him see how much he loves him.
So maybe time away from each other to grow as individuals and figure things out is best for them at the moment because they are teens, but gosh, I just hurt so much when they didn’t get that much needed conversation.
I need closure for them.
I’m imagining something like what happened between Captain America vs. Captain America in Avengers Endgame, you know?
I can just imagine Thule Jace fighting it out with real Jace and them trying to bring each other down, but it’s hard because they know each other so well—they are each other. They know each other’s weaknesses, their strengths, their moves, so it’s going to be an EPIC scene like it was in the movies.
Then again, we might not get this fight scene, but I think with two Jaces and one Clary, there has to be some d-r-a-m-a there!
I feel like Cassandra Clare likes to play with you.
When reading City of Heavenly Fire, I kept thinking, all I want is for all the main characters to survive—don’t pull an Allegiant on me! For the most part, our main characters make it through and I felt nothing but relief knowing that they could live out the rest of their lives. I was also kind of accepting that this would be the end of the series and I wouldn’t read about them anymore, so that made me disheartened because there was so much I wanted to see with the main characters. So I loved that with the Dark Artifices we get tidbits of our main characters woven in the story and we get to see those things.
We got a Malec proposal and wedding, a Sizzy engagement, and a Clace proposal.
So I’m over here, happy for my main characters that they’re alive and well.
Then Clary has to have this darn dream! ðĪŠ
She dreamed that she was dying in a dark and barren place with blood and bones. In Faerie with the Unseelie King, he shows her this portal of Thule with her dying out like she envisioned in her dream, so she thinks she’s in the clear now because that’s what she saw.
But, do I believe that we’re in the clear now?
NOT FOR A SECOND!
AND I CRINGE!!!!!
I thought my main characters were just going to live happily! I liked it better when that was that.
But I feel like that’s too simple for Cassandra Clare. I feel like in the Wicked Powers, that dream Clary has is going to be a reality maybe in the final book or somewhere along the way because Cassandra Clare said there’s going to be her biggest and baddest villain in this series and I just know. . . I just know something bad’s going to happen and I literally cannot take it!
Cassandra Clare is foreshadowing and I don’t like it ðĐ.
If Clary doesn’t make it through the end of Wicked Powers or if there isn’t a Place wedding, I’m going to throw the book out the window and sob ð.
We had a Malec wedding.
We had so many weddings between characters.
But I think the one wedding we ALL want and need, is a Clace wedding.
Stop me if I’m wrong.
I’m not.
It’s the one thing I wanted the most after finishing City of Heavenly Fire and it’s the one thing I still want because they deserve to be happily married and to have the minivan with all their good looking babies in them!
Just imagine Alec as the best man to Jace because they’re like brothers. I think Simon or Izzy would be Clary’s best woman or man, along with Emma and Maia. Imagine Magnus being there to walk Clary down the aisle because he’s always been there for her to help her through literal heck and back and to see her become the great Shadowhunter and person she has. He has kind of always been like a father figure in that way. Or maybe Luke will walk her down the aisle because he’s a father figure to her too. But we hardly see Luke nowadays. Imagine Clary and her mom having a heart to heart before she walks down the aisle. Imagine the look Jace is going to give Clary when he sees her in her wedding dress. I bet he’s going to tear up or cry. I bet he’s going to cry. We don’t even need to bet if I’m going to cry because that’s a fact.
Just imagine.
I hope it becomes a reality.
This is the love triangle just waiting to happen.
Dru met Ash briefly when she was transported to Faerie and ever since then, it seems like Ash has taken a liking to the “mysterious girl” who saw him that day.
But Dru and Jamie also have history because he stayed in her room and watched scary movies with her when she felt lonely. Jamie was the only good friend in her life when no one listened to her. So I think at this point, I’m more for Dru and Jamie because Jamie is a nice guy and he cares for Dru. Dru needs a nice guy.
At the same time, I mean, how can you not want to see Dru with Ash and how that would work out? It’s dark and twisted in a way, but maybe Ash would want to be a good person for Dru or maybe he would actually be a good thing for her. Maybe not. Maybe he will be evil to the bone. I don’t know. Maybe he’ll sacrifice himself for Dru at the end because he loves her and wants to be a better person and do the one thing he can do: save everyone by giving up himself for her and others to be happy?
I don’t know.
But what I do know is that Julian will NOT be happy if Dru ended up with Ash.
If Jace was the Golden man of the hour in The Mortal Instruments, then I feel like Kit’s going to be the savior of the Wicked Powers.
Or maybe not.
Again I don’t know.
But if Ash is darkness, and Kit has the Herondale genes, he’s going to be the light in the situation and part of the solution. We still have so much more to understand about Kit and the extent of his powers. I feel like Ash and Kit are truly literal opposites of each other because Ash was created by Sebbby and the Seelie Queen and Kit comes from a line of the Unseelie King and Seelie Queen, so they’re both special. But what makes Kit different from Ash, was that he was raised right by somewhat loving parents, as Ash was raised in seclusion by kind of a monster.
Wait, does that make Kit and Ash, partially related because they both in a way descend from the Seelie Queen?
Hmmmm . . .
Anyway, I think Kit and his power is going to play a pivotal role in the next book and I’m excited to see how.
Even though my idea that Cristina was the lost heir of the Seelie Queen and Unseelie King was false, I still think that there’s more to Cristina than just a regular Shadowhunter.
I think that part of her is Fae or something special because she has such an interest in the Fae world, that it’s not a coincidental obsession, it’s a missing link to them that she doesn’t fully understand or know about yet. It would explain why her parents would have those Fae pendants that slow down time. I mean, how else could their family line explain why they were entrusted with these anyway? How did they get that one necklace in the first place? One of the chains was said to have a family crest scratched away, to hide something?
This goes back to Clary’s dream because if there’s one thing I think I know about Cassandra Clare, she’ll save the most epic scenes for last. So if we’re really not out of the clear with that dream, then somewhere along the way, we’re going to have a battle—final battle?—on Thule, meaning we might also see older Livvy again and what happened to everyone in Thule after Sebby was killed.
The Wicked Powers takes place five years after the Dark Artifices, so obviously by that time, I think Tessa would have had her baby. So it’s going to be fun to see Tessa and Jem as parents and to see how Kit would be as a big brother. Awwww! I think Kit’s going to make a great big brother because he’s really compassionate and has a heart of gold.
Correction: I am updating this post on May 1st and I have finished the Ghosts of the Shadow Market, which I HIGHLY recommend because it’s my favorite accompanying book of all time! But, in this anthology, the Jessa baby is born, soooooooo I don’t want to spoil the gender or name or anything, so go read it! ð
And if you do, here’s my Ghosts of the Shadow Market book review
Zara and the Cohort followers took Alicante. They are trapped in Alicante and no one can come in or go out.
I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing because who would want to see Zara?
Joking . . . not really
I think that losing Alicante was just too simple and it’s not a bad thing that the true Shadowhunters left Alicante, I just think that Zara doesn’t deserve a whole Shadowhunter nation when she doesn’t have a compassionate fiber in her being. I think we have to return to Alicante at one point and work something out to unite against the greater force in the end.
If we go to Alicante, then we’re bound to see Zara, sadly.
Maybe Zara and Emma will have another fight seen. Will Emma show Zara mercy this time? I think Emma would because she’s morally better than Zara, but then again, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, I stab you too ð
The Cold Peace ended in QoAaD, but we don’t really see how the government rebuilds itself afterwards. In the Wicked Powers, we know we’re going to see Alec beyond stressed trying to make difficult decisions, but moral and just decisions for the Shadowhunters. I think that in the end, there’s going to be a unification of Shadowhunters and all Downworlders where they will live in peace and harmony. Isn’t that what we all want? To live in peace and harmony?
Okay, so if you go on Fandom Wiki or some fanpage site, someone said that Cassandra Clare is going to change the Shadowhunter world with this series and what it means for it to be a Shadowhunter.
After reading City of Heavenly Fire, I absolutely thought we’d be done with all these battles and that we would know everything there is to know. SO WHAT DO YOU MEAN CASSANDRA CLARE IS GOING TO CHANGE THINGS?!!! I am NOT READY!!! ðĐ She’s trying to destroy my sanity! It’s like she sits on Blackfriars’s Bridge thinking how she can bring the most emotional pain to her loyal readers!
And part of that change comes with a big huge battle, which by all means, I love the idea of a Marvel’s Endgame sort of thing where all the Shadowhunters from every Cassandra Clare book assembles and fights this last battle. I mean, how epic would that be!!! But man, if we lose someone important I will break down in sobs! Sobs I tell you.
With a big battle, comes great loss. And I already feel like Cassandra Clare will do this to us. She’s been foreshadowing something with the Dark Artifices, so I’m not sure who.
I would just like to say I would like it if no one passed away by the end of The Wicked Powers, but I don’t think that’s realistic considering the mastermind behind these books (nothing against Cassandra Clare, she’s a literary master ðĪŠð. But if I were to wager a guess, I am going to say it’s going to be some vampires, maybe Lily Chen. Not that I want it to be her. I feel like it’s going to be one of our main characters even if we don’t want that. Here’s the thing, I don’t want to say it, but I feel like I’m going to say it because I think it might make sense.
Magnus ð°.
Don’t come for me.
Just think though. Cassandra Clare always talks about how Alec has these feelings about how he won’t outlive Alec, so she would write him off because it would be unparalleled if Alec lived without him. Right? But knowing Cassandra Clare also, she loves Magnus’s character too much to write him off so I’m hopeful.
I think a Blackthorn might pass away, but gosh knows we’ve had too many Blackthorns sacrifice their life.
Heck. I’m tired with all these passings. Can’t they all just move to Hawaii and call it a day? ð
If you read Ghosts of the Shadow Market, you would understand this next part. But the Jace that came back from Thule, decided to call himself Janus. He has a lot of anger in his heart and resentment. And it came from, you guessed it, the product of bad parenting and a bad environment! ðĪŠ Which I get, but I think that we’ve been there done that with Sebby, so I think maybe Cassandra Clare wants to redeem Janus at the end and make him see his faults and to not be evil from it. I think that would be a proper ending because I don’t think Janus is a bad person, I think he’s just crazy and wants love. And love can make you do unspeakable things.
There’s still hope for him to be better. So maybe love will win out and we can make him a better person. I don’t know. Maybe there’s also hope for Ash to be better too. Because honestly these kids just get the short end of the bargain time and time again and that’s why they’re so screwed up in the head.
We can surely fix that with a nice sit down at a psychologists office, right?
I doubt it, but I have hope for Janus because he’s just a broken puppy.
Anyway, those are just some of my thoughts as to what I think might happen in any of the books in the Wicked Powers based on what we know. If you have any theories, let me know, I’d love to hear from you! Or if you agree or disagree or have a comment on any of my theories, I’d also love to discuss that.
Well, I guess until the Wicked Powers comes out, we can all just stew in our ideas and read Chain of Gold in the meantime! But until then, I hope you have a beautiful and wonderful day!
And as always, with love,
