To those who love to listen, I kid you not if you are an introvert like me, podcasts are your godsend! ππΌ It’s your saying grace. It’s the one thing that makes you feel like you have friends when you might not have a lot. And it’s suuuuuchhhh a good time.! You sit there, do whatever—-draw, paint, clean, drive, take notes, literally whatever—–pop on a podcast and listen. And it’s like there are people in the room with you and you feel less alone.
It’s not as creepy as it sounds.
It’s therapeutic and makes you smile and laugh—-all the good things.
I didn’t know about podcasts until last year. So if you were like me and you don’t know what a podcast is, a podcast is an audio recording about various topics—–lifestyle, health, business, games, jokes, informational, etc. You can download it on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, IHeartRadio, Lumify, or other podcast platforms deepening on your device or where you would like to listen. Personally, I use Apple podcasts because I have an iPhone, but I hear that Spotify is the next best place for podcasts, so I highly recommend trying it out, give it a listen. You will not regret it.
I also know some podcasts have Youtube channels, so you can watch the podcasters record and talk on video, if you want to see them. But that’s kind of how I learned about podcasts. Two of my favorite Youtubers, Remi Cruz and Alisha Marie started a podcast (which I’ll talk about later with this post) and I was soooo hyped to listen! So you best bet, I went on Apple Podcasts, I subscribed, and rated it five stars before I even LISTENED to the first episode. Then I listened to the first episode and it lived up to everything I knew these two powerhouses would accomplish and more. And every Wednesday, that is what I look forward to. It’s still what I look forward too π The more I listened to them, the more I wanted to discover other podcasts and voices. And that my lovelies is how I became a podcast fanatic.
Now I know some people like to listen to true crime podcasts, but my scaredy cat bones would never, so I have a different style of podcasts I like to listen to. So this post is very personalized to me, but I’d thought I would share my favorite podcasts with all of you to give a shoutout to all the gals and guys who created something so wonderful and empowering to listen to. I also wanted to spread the love because maybe you might find a new love with some of the podcasts I list below, or maybe you already listen to them and we can chat about it in the comments!
So in no particular ranking, here are my all time favorite podcasts:
If you’re looking for the content, baby, content, look no further!
Like I said this is the first podcast I EVER listened to. And it was love at first hear π. I cannot explain to you how much I adore Alisha and Remi’s dynamic and friendship. They are two of the sweetest, humblest, honest people you will ever hear or watch. They are such kind-hearted individuals who have been through so many ups and downs and they will take you on a journey of their lives as they discover more about themselves. What I like most about Pretty Basic is how it feels like a family (as clichΓ© as that sounds). But here’s to all my basic babes π. But literally, I love how vulnerable they can be one moment and then talk about something personal or serious the next minute.
They are such a good time if you need something light-hearted and empowering at the same time. Their episodes usually start with a game, but now that they’re on season two, I noticed they don’t do it as much, but that’s okay! Some of the topics they discuss include , body image, growing up, or what it’s like to be an influencer/ be in the public eye. I personally like their perspective about what influencing is because influencers weren’t even a thing until a couple years ago and I think far too often people think that it’s an easy job, but it’s not. So my absolute respect goes to these two gals and other influencers!
As touched on earlier, they both are Youtuber’s and have a Pretty Basic Youtube channel, so you should check them out there too π.
More like call me in love because such a fun, girl-boss, business type of podcast that will give you another outlook of what it means to be young, thriving, and fit.
Haley Pham is a Youtuber who owns a clothing brand called Retro Reprise for all things fashion. Lily Ann is a, what I would say, a professional letterer, and she also has a Youtube and a business shop that I will link below. Show her some love, buy her cute stickers, planners, hoodies, hats, and totes! They are so stinking cute you will not regret them!
They are also such a good pair to listen to because you can tell how genuine their friendship is. I also love hearing girls supporting girls and lifting each other up. They are also big on health and fitness, and they constantly joke about being two tiny girls trying to be macho-buff people π They are so cute! But what I love about listening to them is how motivated I am to either do school work, work on my passions, or to be healthy—mind and body. They are the ultimate hype girls if you need a pick me up!
What we said, what I said, what we all said (bad grammar I know), but no matter who said it, you gotta listen to this podcast π
This is hands-down one of the most inspirational, motivational, and purposeful podcasts you will EVER listen to.
Jaci Marie Smith is a Youtuber and photographer and her best friend Chelsea Jade Curtis is a certified health coach. Anyone who questions they’re friendship is within itself questionable because their dynamic shines through in everything they do.
Their podcasts really takes a bad day and flips it around. They make you think differently about difficult subjects like eating disorders, influencing, health, relationships, and more. But they also know how to keep it simple with crazy stories about weddings, embarrassing moments, first kisses, secret confessions, and all the juciy tea you need. Those are my favorite episodes. So there is truly something in here for everyone. And I genuinely mean it when I say that you do not even have to be a girl to listen to this podcast (or any of the podcasts I mentioned) because it will help you be a better person.
And I love how that is their goal and how well they do it. Any day listening to a What We Said podcast is a good day, trust meπ§‘
Any hour with Gretchen Geraghty is happy hour. If there is anyone who is sunshine reincarnate it is this beautiful gal. Whenever I hear her voice, it instantly brings a smile to my face because of the absolute positivity and joy she brings. And I know she will bring that same joy to your life π.
Gretchen Geraghty is, wanna guess? A Youtuber π But her channel’s a fun time, so show her some love there. She went to Boston University, which she talks a lot about in her podcast and she has a twin named Lucy.
Every episode she starts with saying her highs and lows of the week, something she is grateful for, and a inspirational quote. And I just love that. She is such a humble person who is not afraid to talk about difficult topics as well like body image or the negativity that comes with being an influencer. She also has episodes about happiness, positivity, motivation, and living in Boston, She sometimes has episodes with guests. One of my favorite episodes she has is with her friend Arlin Moore and it changed my perspective completely, so I highly recommend listening to that one because it talks about the truth of happiness and manifesting change.
Her podcasts will put a smile on your face and warmth in your heart βοΈ
This is for all the gals and bros on the go. You know, if you have a fast-paced lifestyle. Pop this in, listen, and thrive. Simple as that.
Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio are both Youtubers. To be honest, I only started listening to their podcasts, so I don’t know much about them besides the fact that Danielle is a senior in college and is a spin instructor. Brooke graduated from (I think) the university Danielle is still attending and (I think) Brooke does Youtube full time. I know she’s moving to New York. Sorry, if I got any of that wrong, again, I just started listening π.
But I’m a fan. I love to listen to these gals when I’m running because their episodes tend to be more light-hearted and a girly chit-chat (again, guys can listen too). They are known for talking about what it means to be a college student, everything motivational, life updates, pop culture happenings, and all of those type of things. So if you enjoy that, I would recommend becoming a gal or bro on the go with them.
Literally big sis vibes π
Bailee Madison, you know her, you heard of her—-the girl who played Maxine on Wizards of Waverly Place, who played Jennifer Aniston’s daughter on Just Go With It, Snow on Once Upon A Time, and Grace on The Good Witch. She has a sister names Kaitlin Vilasuso who is a beautiful and proud mom.
They have such a cute relationship and you will literally gush over how sweet they are to each other. And don’t even get me started on the episodes where Kaitlin’s kids come on and talk! So precious π They have guests like Shay Mitchell, Meghan Trainor, Alex Aiono, Jenna Ortega, Peyton List, and Lauren Marano. What I love abou JBU is that you get the stars perspective of what it was like for them to grow up in Hollywood and where they are now. It’s interesting to hear these celebrities in this light.
The only downside is that they aren’t making new episodes because the podcast lasted only a year. Hopefully, one day they’ll come back, but they got bigger things ahead of them for sure! You can still listen to them though, so go enjoy the episodes out there already. Personally love the Shay Mitchell and Meghan Trainor one π
Here’s my unsolicited advice: but this is the podcast you need to tune into. TRULY. Highly underrated as podcasts go π
If you are looking for absolutely hilarious stories, deep and light-hearted advice, and dad jokes then this is the podcast for you. They have Tayrne It Up stories where people send in stories of embarrassing moments that make you pee your pants until you become one of those embarrassing stories! It’s based on Tayrne Renee who is a queen herself and such a open-hearted, loving individual who I just would love to be friends with! She also has such an interesting life where she has been through some of the most unfortunately hilarious situations, hence Tayrne it up.
The other podcaster of the hour is the aesthetic coffee queen, Ashely Nicole. Her sister is Alisha Marie who’s one of the hosts of Pretty Basic as mentioned earlier. And Ashley also has a Youtube that’s highly underrated, so you must check out her videos. I’m serious π.
I found Unsolicited Advice after getting into Pretty Basic and realized that Alisha’s sister had a podcast. And common sense told me if I liked Alisha, then I would love Ashely and Tayrne.
I did. I LOVED them.
Honestly, I’m wondering where are all the good men in the world at because they’re missing out on two AMAZING, STUNNING, FUNNY, and EMPOWERED women. Like honestly, men are missing out π. Their loss.
Honestly, that’s my unsolicited advice and someone should just sign me up as their hype women because I highly admire them.
Anyway, such a great duo and for two gals who do not have any PhD in psychology or advice giving (Taryne does have a psychology degree for education, I think), they give honest to gosh wholesome and humble advice. They are so selective with what they say because they know they aren’t professionals, but they might as well be for how well they are at it. They are the prime example of empathetic and understanding individuals to put themselves in someone else’s shoes and to feel what they might be going through. I absolutely love that π. But here and there there are comedic stories that don’t always require advice, more so commentary. And I LOVE Taryne and Ashley’s reactions to those stories. I just love listening to those stories because when you don’t have an interesting life like me, it really puts into perspective how, man, my life really is dull π. But I always get a good laugh from those stories and it’s funny how I would literally sit in public and just laugh for no reason and people would stare. I let them stare! I was having a good time!
And you can too when you listen today!
And if you want to send in a Tayrne it Up, you can direct message the gals on instagram at @unsolicitedadvice or email them. I also know that if you want to send in a story for advice or a fun story in general, here is the email to do so:
This is the only podcast you should be putting your tip money into.
It’s that good.
Megan Batoon is, obviously, a podcaster, but she is also a dancer and was in the Step Up movies, which made up my childhood! How did I not know she was in those movies? I don’t know.
But her podcast is every bit of informative and laughable as Unsolicited Advice. She has guests on mostly every week where you get to know them and their stories. You might not even know some of the guests she has on her podcast, gosh knows I don’t, but it’s still nice to hear and learn about different people and what their passions are. Of course, they give advice along the way. You can call into a certain number, leave a message asking for advice, and they might get back to you on it. If you want advice, I’ll leave the number below. But it’s another fun, interactive way to do podcasting, and she does it right!
OOOOOOOOOOh, it’s about to get juicy in here!
When that line just hits, I just envision the rep lipstick and the FLAMES! It’s a vibe and a mood, it’s a mood and a vibe. π₯π
Taylor King, or TK is a Indiana Boss Queen who is not afraid to get juicy. She works with Alisha Marie (I think you can see the pattern of how I find these podcasts π) on her videos and planning. She’s also the executive producer for Pretty Basic. She is such a hard worker and I feel like she is going to pop off one day as maybe an influencer or just someone popular. TK knows all the trends and I know she will be a long-lasting trendsetter. So get on the trend now β£οΈ
TK’s Juicy Polls is a podcast where TK has guests on and they talk about poll questions the guests and her create. You can vote on her polls by following @tksjuicypolls on instagram. And must I say, you become highly invested in her polls. They can range from anything like pineapple on pizza or not or more juicy ones about dating, influencer life, or business. They are such fun questions that really make you pause and think about what you vote as your answers. And I love how TK takes her polls to the next level and discusses the results. That’s why her podcast is so different—it’s interactive and thought-provoking.
You should vote in her polls and then listen along!
Again, such a unique podcasts that will genuinely keep you engaged from the minute it starts to the second it ends β€οΈ
I love this podcast so much π
Kenzie Elizabeth is a down-to-earth, inspirational, and driven person. She is passionate in all that she does and it comes through in her actions and her words. She is a Youtuber and is in college. And she loves her Juicy Couture tracksuit and anything Jojo π.
I am not a boss business woman, so I thought listening to her podcast wouldn’t be for me, but honestly, I love listening to all the guests she has and how they talk about businesses. Her guests provide insider information on what it takes to start, run, and maintain a business and they give you lessons about their experience. So even if you’re not looking to start your own business, this is such a fun podcast to listen to and learn about a whole other side to what we don’t see. I also enjoy her episodes with her friends where they discuss relationships because it makes you feel less alone in what you feel.
She is someone unapologetically vulnerable and not afraid to speak her mind. Definitely worth giving a listen!
This is the podcast where you sit down with a notebook and a cup of coffee.
I love listening to this in the mornings doing exactly that. There is something always so meaningful to take away from this podcast whether it be from being kind to your mind and body, what it means to be alone, being comfortable in that lonely, life changing, relationships, how to find happiness, and so much more. This is the podcast you listen to if you need something therapeutic and something to soothe the soul.
It sure soothes mine like a warm cup of coffee.
Bianca Sparacino is a poetry writer and you can find her on Instagram as @Rainbowsalt. She is one of my favorite poets.
So listening to her talk about words and her experiences was a no brainer for me. And I love what she does with this podcast in talking about feelings through her poetry because far too often we push those feelings aside or people invalidate them.
But you can find validation here. You can find solace.
Everyone knows about manifestation, but this is manifestation on a new level.
Tori Desimone is someone who is passionate in all she does and wants to motivate you to manifest your best life and best version of yourself. I recently started listening to her, but I know I already enjoy her podcast because I leave feeling pumped up to take my life by the hands and do something productive and meaningful with my life. She talks about the secret to chaining you life, avoiding burnout, and managing work and life.
If you need to manifest the good vibes, here it is.
I became a huge Sadie Robinson fan after her season on Dancing With the Stars. She was someone who was so genuinely herself and it made me want to be more like that. I also love how strong her family relationships are and how unwavering her faith is.
Religion is something a lot of people shy away from as well, but I love how she talks about it so openly because faith shouldn’t be something to be embarrassed about. All faiths are beautiful in what they bring. And if someone believes something or doesn’t, that is no reason to put someone down or make them feel silenced.
Sadie speaks up and it is literally like, “Whoa,” when you listen to her. She speaks about her faith, her family, and her relationship. And as someone in the public eye, I admire and respect her for being so open and vulnerable.
If you don’t know Sadie or you’ve heard of her, you’ll love her even more after you listen to her π§‘.
A podcast with Meredith Foster? Sign me up!
And guess what Meredith Foster does? She’s a Youtuber π I laugh at how literally every person on this list is a Youtuber. But it goes to show you how I consume my content. Content, baby content, am I right? π I am not too sure what Stass, the other cohost of this podcast, does, but can I just say she has the female Morgan Freeman voice—-beautiful ππΌ. And I think she’s my age, which is bonkers because she sounds waaaaayyyyyy more mature than me.
But I love the idea of this podcast in two girls talking about their love of their faith. They have such a secure stance of what they believe. I will say though, I am not someone who is highly religious, but they inspire me to reconnect with my faith. And maybe you’re like me and not highly religious, or you’re just curious about religion, maybe this can be the start of you also reconnecting with your faith or finding one.
No matter what, I love the empowerment these two gals have because they are empowered from within.
Now I wouldn’t be a true book lover if I didn’t listen to some book related podcasts.!
88 Cups of Tea is your go-to podcast for all things writing—-the process, drafts, editing, publishing, etc. What I love about 88 Cups of Tea, is how it gives you first hand accounts from authors who have been through the process because it helps you understand what it was like for them and what it could be like if you were to pursue the same path of being a writer.
As someone who is aspiring to become a published author one day, this podcast is my motivation and my guide. I love listening to what the query process was like for some authors, what authors writing processes are like, and what literary agents are looking for. Oh, I absolutely LOVE the episodes with literary agents or publishers because it is such useful information to hear with what they are looking for.
I know whenever I am in the writing mood, I put on this podcast and that mood courses through my veins and into my fingertips.
Such a worthwhile experience π
Also going off the writing chain, I really like the First Draft.
If also does the same thing that 88 Cups of Tea does with interviewing literary agents and authors of their writing process and the stories they wrote. It’s interesting to be on the other side of the story and how it was made. Because isn’t that the beauty? The process.
Anyway, highly recommend if you need something to help you get through that first draft π
I’m being fully honest. I have not listened to this podcast, but I will π
I’m just going to recommend it because it sounds like a good podcast. From what I gauge it’s like 88 Cups of Tea and First Draft, but it also delves deeper into the writing process as an individual. From the episode titles, I also think that it’s about knowing yourself as a writer and how you can push past the roadblocks you might stumble over. And I think as writers, we all come across those points where we don’t know if the flow is good, if this or that makes sense, or those moments where we don’t know what to write. So as I’m getting back into my writing game this summer, I really wanted to find something that would help me understand myself as a writer. And this is what I found.
I’ll update this post when I listen to it, but in the meantime I’d thought I’d just share it on here because it has a different take on the writing process.
I don’t know how no one else has made a podcast book club for readers yet where they discuss books, but someone needs to capitalize off of that π
The next best thing, personally, I think is the B&N podcast, especially the Young Adult one. But they recently marched the YA podcast with the regular B&N podcast, which I must say was not my favorite decision because on the B&N podcast, it has a whole ton of authors I do not read from or care to hear from, so having the YA podcast as separate was smarter to me. But I digress. I still recommend checking out the YA version or the regular B&N version because they are both interesting to hear.
You get to listen to various authors talk about how they became an author, how they got started, the story behind their books, and future projects. I really enjoy listening to this because when reading a book, you get the authors voice and style, but you don’t actually get to know the author/who they are. And I would like to know the author and why they wrote what they did. I love to hear their stories and feel that connection with them and their story as well. If I haven’t said it enough on this blog, I am a big fan of Christine Riccio, the author of Again, But Better, who also has an episode on the B&N YA podcast. But the reason I her so much as a person and author is because I know her a lot more than other authors, you know? I don’t know her personally, but I know her from what she posts on Youtube, which helps me feel like I know her—-it creates that connection to the author.
So if you ever wanted to know the person behind the story, this is where you’ll find that.
Big stan of Youtuber’s over here! So you know, I had to throw this one in here because I haven’t listened to it, I don’t know what it’s called, but I already know I’m going to love and support it π.
So when it comes out, I’ll put it in a section or something, but until then, I’m going to wait.
And on the off chance that LauraDIY is reading this, hi! I’m super excited for your podcast! π€ Gosh knows I have too much content already π .
Anyway, in the meantime go support LauraDIY!
Well, these were just some of my absolute, without a doubt favorite podcasts I listen to on a weekly basis. I listen to each deepening on the mood, like if I need a pick-me up, I listen to Happy Hour; if I want to a good laugh, I go to Unsolicited Advice; if I want to feel motivated, Call Me Candid is what I click; or if I want to write, 88 Cups of Tea is my cup of tea.
I am genuinely so grateful to have found podcasts and thankful to all those who have created shows that have filled the silence in my life. And on the off-chance that any of the podcasters mentioned is reading this post, I just want to say a huge thank you and give you a noninvasive social distancing hug because you do not know how much your episodes mean to me! Thank you profusely! π And you will always have a fan in me!
To all of you readers, I hope you found a new podcast you might want to listen to and if you have any podcasts you think I would like or that you like in general, mention it in the comments, I would love to know! π And if you do listen to any of these podcasts, we can chat about it if you like! What’s your favorite podcast episode from that podcast, etc. Whatever you want to talk about, I’m here for it π.
I hope you have a beautiful and wonderful day whenever and where ever you might be reading this! And don’t forget to give some of these podcasts a try π
As always, with love,
